Masai women were reduced to tears when they learned that they could reduce the chance of getting malaria by sleeping under mosquito nets and combat illness by preventing flies landing on their food.
Simple facts, such as hand washing, keeping a clean compound and drinking clean water can improve the health for many people.
When 2 teachers travelled to Jinja to work at an orphanage school in Oct '08, they gave pencils to the children to use for the lesson.
One girl refused to use her pencil as she wanted to keep so that she had something to open on Christmas day.

A stagnant well is the only source of water in some villages. The women and children walk miles every day carrying 5 litre jerry cans. By the age of 30 years old, a woman will have walked the equivalent of 5 times around the world - just collecting water for her family!
Agapao installs standpipes in villages to provide clean water, reducing illness and improving health for the whole community.
Many children do not attend school, as families cannot afford uniform or school fees. By starting community classes for street children and orphans, Agapao has helped many children with basic skills.
Agapao also provides sewing machines for womens groups to make uniforms for their children to attend local schools, enabling them to get and education and their parents to earn a living by tailoring.
